The Crafty Girl PlayKit: Summer Joy Activity Kit is part ephemera collection, part summer activity book, part collecting tiny joys in a tin and one hundred percent an excuse to spend the summer doing things that feel good. Snipping. Collecting. Photographing. Reading. Making little charms. Filling a tin with paper treasures like it’s 1987 and you’ve got nowhere to be.
The world is a lot right now. This is the antidote.
THE PLAYKIT GUIDE
The Summer Joy Activity Kit is a printable digital kit designed for home printing. Inside you’ll find ephemera to cut and collect, reading and photo challenges, creative prompts and fun activities to work through all summer long. Let’s spark your most joyful season yet.
HOW TO USE THE KIT
The printable elements can be printed on cardstock, 32lb paper and this kit includes a fun extra (shrinky dinks templates!).
️ The Tiny Joys Kit: 4 Sheets of vintage icons to print, snip and tuck into your tin, your journal, your junk journal pages or anywhere that needs a little something. Toys from our childhood, snacks and magazines from our teen years, beauty products our mothers kept on their bathroom counters, today’s cozy hobbies. It’s basically every summer we’ve ever had, printed on four pages. Use a hinged tin box, a cigar or pencil box, or even an envelope… heck, anything handy or cheap. Fill it up all summer. Add more treasure to it. Treat it like a time capsule for this chapter of your life.
Tiny Joys Honeys: 1 Sheet of paper doll-sized Honeys.Snip them out and use them to embellish your junk journal, laminate and use as book marks or attach a stick and tuck into a potted plant, tuck one into a happy mail to a friend. Use them as an embellishment on a gift.
Shrinky Dinks: Yes, really! 2 sheets of outline art to color, cut and shrink into tiny charms for your tote bag, your tin, your keychain, wherever you want a little summer magic. It’s a throwback craft and I am excited to try them!. Color them in before you shrink them, follow the directions on your packaging.
Tiny Joy Notes: 2 sheets of little prompt slips for capturing a moment, a feeling, a tiny happiness worth remembering. Cut them apart and tuck them in your journal, or Tiny Joys Box, or fill one out just for future you.
The Goals Sheet + DIY Honey Sticky Notes: A favorite combo in the kit! Print your Goals Sheet, then print your Honey Sticky Notes (cute little colored squares with our girls on them) and use them to fill in your goals for the week, the month, or the whole summer. Think fun goals: self-care time, art dates, bucket list activities, craft session, book reading, lazy time, “eat a popsicle on the porch” goals. It’s not your performance review. Use repositionable glue stick on the back of your printed notes and they stick and peel just like the real thing. The SAMPLE sheet shows how to use the notes and fill in with goals.
The 90 Day Summer Photo Challenge: 60 prompts for a whole summer photo adventure. Print it, grab your phone, and start shooting. Photo challenges are the best way to get moving and start adventuring, even if it’s just your neighborhood or yard. Share them as you take them, then get them printed and tuck them into a junk journal you whip up this summer.
The Summer Reading Challenge: Nine books over 90 days. That’s one book every ten days, totally doable! Pick something current or revisit a teenage favorite. There’s something really joyful about rereading a book you loved at fifteen. Just saying.

PRINTING TIPS
Files are organized in folders labeled with the suggested paper type for printing. We recommend the following for best results:
32lb paper (the gold standard, buttery smooth)
Cardstock (if you prefer cardstock over photo paper, this is it)
Photo paper (perfect for embellishments, use instead of cardstock for crisp images)
Printable Shrinky Dinks (use for printing our designs and creating your own)
Recommended products for creating all the crafts in the kit: you’ll need a tin box, repositionable glue, and ball chains to make the Shrinky Dinks into charms (be sure to punch BIG holes for this).
